RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Public Library (RCPL) is a free resource that anyone in Pennington County can use, and it’s filled with plenty of stories to explore cover to cover.

While people tend to think of libraries as just a place to borrow books, they also provide other items that can be borrowed, like movies, or resources you can use while there.

“Whether it’s Library Card Sign-Up Month or not, I just want to encourage people to come and check out the library because it’s really going to surprise you how much that we offer that are not just books,” Public Relations Coordinator Laurinda Tapper said.

One stop while at the library could be the Makerspace.

“We have numerous hardware and software in the Makerspace that we can train people how to use if they come into the library while we’re open,” RCPL Events Coordinator Aly Quinn said. “And then they can take those skills and apply them into real world situations, either for their own small businesses or for their own jobs as well,”

You can search the library catalog on their website as well as look through the different categories set up. Some choices might include:

The library also offers digital reading-friendly options as well. Cardholders can send eBooks to a Kindle or Kindle-reading app along with the ability to download the Libby app for another way to access eBooks, audio books, and magazines.
